Our team is now developing the next generation of security screening solutions for airports worldwide – solutions that will incorporate the latest advances in machine learning, 3D imaging and open network architectures, and have the potential to dramatically improve aviation security and passenger travel experience.  


To help lead this effort, Analogic is looking for a highly motivated and skilled Principal Backend Software Engineer to be part of a team designing industry leading technology for Airport Security.



Responsible for software projects of great complexity, substance and economic value in the field of Aviation Security.  Requires the ability to simultaneously manage several projects of different scope and complexity. Interacts with internal and industry stakeholders to understand product needs; software/network architecture, design and verification. Lead efforts and contribute to the implementation of software solutions. Direct and perform testing and releases changes. Conceive and drive completion of major features, new methodologies, significant procedural, architectural and technology shifts.  Experience with the design and architecture of embedded control systems, high reliability multiplex networks and/or user workstations.


  • Design and implement backend interface between system control and open network architectures.
  • Define and document architecture, functional, and design requirements
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to define requirements.
  • Complete design details and develops methods to satisfy design requirements.
  • Prepare engineering test specifications and procedures.
  • Mentor and supervise team members assigned to projects.
  • Communicate complex concepts in written and verbal form.   Create technical reports, publications, specifications, product designs test plans, and release notes.  Plan and conduct research, design and development for all assignments.


  • BSCS or related degree, plus 10 years of experience or equivalent.
  • Mastery of network architecture and efficient REST API development.
  • Expertise in Relational Databases and managing schema migrations.
  • Proven experience in multi-threaded programming and distributed systems.
  • Excellent Object-Oriented programming skills.
  • Extensive knowledge and production programming experience in C/C++ in a Linux environment.
  • Understanding of analytical equipment and large data sets.
  • Prior experience with imaging technology such as CT preferred, but not required.
  • United states Citizenship Required
