Our motion control group is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team to lead sustaining engineering efforts. Copley motor drives are the most innovative in the industry and employ a wide variety of technologies including high speed networking, digital signal processing with FPGA’s, precision analog signal conditioning and high efficiency power conversion.

    In this sustaining engineering role, the electrical engineer will have primary technical responsibility for resolving component obsolescence/availability issues and implementing quality improvements for products in the Production life cycle phase. The position requires someone with a strong electronics background, excellent attention to detail and a knack for driving solutions through to successful implementation.

    Responsibilities

    • Work closely with Copley’s Procurement, Planning and Production teams to track, prioritize and address component availability, quality and similar issues that arise in the course of production
    • Apply electrical engineering knowledge and coordinate with other engineers to come up with solutions to sustaining engineering problems
    • Create written impact analyses for proposed component substitutions and related design changes to ensure that the full scope of implications is identified and documented
    • Collaborate with Compliance and QA teams to ensure any changes are properly communicated to and approved by approval agencies and customers as determined by impact analysis
    • Plan, coordinate, conduct and document tests and analyses used to verify and validate proposed changes
    • Initiate Engineering Change Orders and Deviations as necessary to implement validated and approved changes
    • Apply continuous improvement principles to company policies regarding Sustaining Engineering

     

    Qualifications

    • An Associates degree in Electrical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering Technology. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • 5+ years of direct experience in electrical design and/or sustaining engineering
    • Experience tracking and addressing issues through to resolution
    • A solid understanding of the technical rigor required to consistently produce high quality electronic products at scale
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Working knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) concepts (revision control, change orders etc.) and software such as Agile
    • Familiarity with agency approval processes and requirements (EMC, Electrical Safety and Functional Safety)
