  • Overview

    Under immediate supervision, assists in the design, construction, modification, test and documentation of prototype systems.

    Responsibilities

    Sets up test stations and performs test and troubleshooting of prototype systems and subassemblies.

     

    Constructs or modifies systems and subassemblies through verbal instruction.

     

    Assists the project engineer in the initial documentation and documentation update of the systems and subassemblies, as well as the documentation of test procedures.

     

    Calibrates, troubleshoots and documents complex test equipment.

     

    Performs related work as may be necessary, including any duties of lower level jobs.

     

    Maintains a neat and orderly work area.

    Qualifications

    Currently enrolled in BS engineering program and participating in formal co-operative education project for college credit.  Minimum of six months of experience in cooperative engineering program. . CAD experience desired, preferably SolidWorks and FEA. MS Office suite. MS Project.

    PHYSICAL EFFORT:

    May be required to sit/stand in one place for long periods of time. May be required to lift, move, and setup computers, monitors, and related equipment up to 50 pounds from time to time. This may include bending or kneeling briefly. Required to use PC/laptop/mouse for significant time virtually every day.

     

    MENTAL DEMANDS:

    Ability to understand and communicate complex abstract concepts daily. Ability to develop software solutions to complex problems.

     

    SUPERVISES OTHERS:

    No

     

    SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

    Regular supervision from more senior engineering staff.

     

    BUDGET RESPONSIBILITY:

    None

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    Primarily office, with regular lab work involving electro-mechanical rotating equipment.

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    Temperature controlled.
