  • Overview

     

    Oversees the tax functions on a global basis. Responsible for developing and implementing internal systems to compile information and authorizes submission of tax reports to various levels of government. Develops corporate policies and authorizes or oversees their implementation, as well as recommending ways to minimize corporate tax liability through use of tax laws and regulations.

    Responsibilities

    • Develops global tax strategies and supports and influences the company’s business strategy by recommending tax efficient structures internationally. 
    • Leads the company’s global income, excise, and sales tax compliance. 
    • Provides tax-related guidance for matters affecting the corporation and its employees
    • Develops and implements the corporate tax strategy and directs tactical efforts to maximize financial statement tax benefits, increase after tax cash flows, or mitigate tax exposures.  Efforts include tax-efficient global business structures, transfer pricing, tax accounting methods, R&D Credits, and manufacturing production deduction.
    • Directs US-based compliance efforts to ensure that all income and transaction tax returns, extensions, and payments are accurately prepared and timely filed and well documented
    • Directs and resolves all customer-related transaction tax issues
    • Manages, negotiates, and resolves US-based tax audits
    • Develops and implements the corporate strategy and directs those tactical efforts necessary to maximize financial statement tax benefits, increase after tax cash flows, or mitigate tax exposures including foreign source income, foreign tax credits, Subpart F income, and tax-efficient repatriation
    • Develops, implements, monitors, and revises intercompany transfer pricing and profitability by entity
    • Directs compliance efforts through a global staff to ensure that all income and transaction tax returns, extensions, and payments are accurately prepared, timely filed, and well documented.
    • Directs international controllers on income tax accounting and audit matters
    • Ensures compliance with tax related GAAP pronouncements, including proper documentation of tax accounting positions.
    • Develops methodology and tools to compute and report all necessary financial statement tax related disclosures.
    • Manages relationships with outside service providers (e.g. external auditors and tax personnel)
    • Reviews international tax reporting packages to ensure conformity with US GAAP.
    • Evaluates current tax reserve position and future requirements
    • Reviews and approves all tax-related account balance reconciliations
    • Manages the company’s federal and state income tax, including planning and compliance for the company and its subsidiaries. Ensures that all federal, state, and foreign tax reporting is completed accurately and on a timely basis. 
    • Manages the preparation and use of all federal, state and foreign tax records and information as required for proper completion of federal, state and foreign tax returns, ensures the maintenance of proper records of all transactions of income, principal and related information to establish proper tax classification.
    • Manages tax rate forecasts, provisions and foot note disclosure for financial statements, possesses technical knowledge and proficiency of ASC 740, including accounting for doubtful tax positions and permanent reinvestment in overseas subsidiaries, with the ability to handle complex issues.
    • Manages and evaluates company tax accounts, ensures that subordinate personnel are informed of current tax laws, regulations and rulings pertaining to federal income taxes.
    • Participates in the due-diligence process related to mergers and acquisitions as required. Assists in managing the risk management function, both in gathering relevant information for insurance renewals, and in developing and implementing analytical processes for better managing enterprise risk.

    Qualifications

    Advanced degree or equivalent plus 15+ years of experience in tax matters and accounting for income tax in a combination of high tech companies and Big Four audit firms. Significant experience in international tax. CPA with a MST degree preferred. 

     

    Competencies

     

    Extensive US Federal and state income and transaction tax knowledge.

    Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.

    Ability to sufficiently understand/utilize global ERP and tax systems to ensure efficient processing and control

    Strong interpersonal, team work, and oral/written communication skills.

    Solid supervisory skills and experience.
