  • Overview

    We currently have an opportunity available in our Quality Department for a Quality-Reliability Engineer at our location in State College, PA.  In this position you’ll work with the quality and engineering teams, as well as other departments and customers to resolve quality/reliability problems.  You will also propose and implement product and process quality improvement programs, perform analysis on key quality indicators using industry-accepted techniques, and make recommendations based on test and analysis findings.  This position reports directly to the Quality Manager.


    • Be “proactive” in implementing root cause analysis across existing product portfolio and within new products in process. 
    • Partner with the Service and Process Engineering teams to analyze field returns and perform root cause (failure) analysis on warranty and non warranty returns. Generate customer failure reports and communicate findings to customers.
    • Develop a data collection system to generate product and customer performance reports, trend charts, and communication packages for management and internal/external customers.
    • Technical interface with Sales, Field Service, and Marketing to resolve customer quality/reliability issues.  Serve as the conduit back to the Process and Development Engineering teams to improve product quality and reliability.
    • Occasional travel to customer sites to work with Field Service or Sales to address customer issues and to understand how our products are being used in the field. Provide reports/recommendations back to internal/external customers.
    • Lead and manage complex problem solving analysis, investigations and report writing utilizing engineering theory/principles.
    • Provide Development Engineering with inputs to build in quality and reliability standards to new products in the design phase
    • Develop internal testing to replicate customer environments as a means to gauge progress on improvements
    • Work with the design, applications and product engineering teams on any qualification rejects and assure appropriate root cause and corrective actions are taken


    • BS degree in Engineering and 5 years’ experience in a production environment
    • HALT/HASS testing experience preferred
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with GMP quality systems and medical device manufacturing.
    • Strong knowledge of quality systems including ISO and FDA.
    • Proven success in detailed root cause analysis and corrective actions.
    • Demonstrated attention to detail and problem solving skills.  Must be able to work in a participative, team oriented environment. 
    • Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills along with strong time management and organizational skills.
    • Excellent computer skills (including, but not limited to: Windows, MS office, ERP systems).
    • Be capable of generating and presenting reports to world-wide customers on reliability problems and actions taken through an 8D framework. 
    • Be a practitioner in control plans and FMEAs with the ability to guide institutional learning on these methods. 
    • ASQ certification preferred but not required.
    • Travel up to 15% of time.
    • Work with national and international customers across multiple time zones
