Design and develop high performance, world class power electronics assemblies (power supplies) that are embedded in larger sub systems. Involves integration with system architecture, PCB layout, component evaluation, prototyping, build/test, verification to reliability, and safety and emissions standards. Work with senior design engineers and scientists on defined requirements to solve problems while giving consideration to performance, cost, weight, and manufacturability. Participate in advancement of state of the art power electronics technology through research and development. Write design specification and verification protocols.
Must have strong working knowledge of state of the art switch-mode power processing encompassing AC/DC, DC/DC with various topologies including Full-Bridge, Half-Bridge, Buck, Boost, Fly back, and Resonant Mode; analog and digital circuit design, micro-controllers, control loop stability, high voltage/high speed IGBTs, isolated gate drive circuits, analog and digital circuit closed loop control with high fidelity feedback circuits employing state of the art current and voltage measurements. Must have thorough knowledge of magnetics design, multi pole LC filters, thermal analysis and experience with concise and effective system design involving electronic packaging, EMI/EMC, and medical safety standards. Must possess proficiency in Microsoft Office and at least one simulation and PCB design tool such as: Matlab, Pspice, or Cadence Allegro.
Master’s degree and a minimum of 12 years of related experience in electrical engineering, power electronics, or related field. Experience in power supply design and development in high voltage, high power environment required.
