Develops and conducts all phases of IT general controls, financial and operational audits, and risk assessments.  Administers the testing and documentation of financial and computer system records for information integrity and transaction accuracy. Assists IT, financial, and operational process owners to develop remediation plans.


Performs all aspects of internal audits (planning, fieldwork, reporting) in order to identify risks and evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls across multiple control domains.  Assesses the efficiency of operations and compliance with corporate policies and procedures as well as laws and regulations by developing and executing complex audit work programs.


Ensures that audit issues are well defined and root causes are identified. Trains management and staff to plan, scope, and perform internal audits and risk assessments within established business process controls. Works with management in all areas to define the audit function as it relates to overall business activities. Evaluates effectiveness of internal controls and reliability of data.  Develops formal written reports to communicate audit results to management and makes recommendations when appropriate. Reports discrepancies.


Plans and executes SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404) testing of key financial cycles and oversees internal resources as necessary.   Facilitates work of external auditors during on-site visits.


Prepares internal audit reports which communicate audit findings.  Identifies audit issues using root cause analyses and makes recommendations to management for improvements using independent judgment.  Reports discrepancies to management and provides recommendations and insights regarding program performance, systems, compliance, results, deficiencies, corrective actions, and policies to strengthen the control environment.  Applies technical writing skills that clearly and concisely document research and analysis.


Reviews and assesses data mining and sampling documentation to ensure documentation supports testing compliance.


Analyzes and ensures proper and effective application of internal controls, including risk assessments and mitigation of deficiencies and exceptions.


Ensures that various corporate audit programs, including documentation and testing of key controls within the IT, financial, and operational processes (SOX/404), are properly executed on an annual basis.


Prepares quarterly Audit Committee presentations.



Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or equivalent plus a minimum of 5 years of previous external auditing, internal auditing, or public accounting experience.  Requires audit knowledge of IT general controls,  finance / accounting, and strong proficiency in PC applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with a good understanding of data analysis techniques.  Experience with Section 404 of the Sarbanes Oxley Act and enterprise GRC software preferred.  Experience in data analytics and familiarity with SAP desired.  Professional certification such as CIA, CPA, CISA, CMA and/or CFE desired.  Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP/GAAS.



  • Strong knowledge of IT general controls related to information security, operations, and change management of systems software, application source code, network, and system database technologies
  • Excellent written communication skills including the ability to summarize audit issues, risks, insights and recommendations
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to effectively manage multiple, concurrent activities in a timely manner
  • Ability to understand and document business processes and related internal controls in walkthrough narrative and flowchart formats
  • Ability to collect and analyze complex data, evaluate information and systems, and provide consistent high quality outputs
  • Researches internal auditing best practices and implements as appropriate
  • Ability to flourish in a fast-paced, complex environment and willing to adapt to change

 The position is based in Peabody, MA, and involves up to 15% travel to locations in North America, Europe, and Asia.
