Overview

Develops algorithms for CT Medical or Security Scanners and reduces the technology to practice.  Requires advanced knowledge of physics and/or engineering principles and concepts, as well as the ability to implement and integrate designs and set and parse visions for staff.

Responsibilities

Designs and analyzes imaging systems for medical, industrial or threat detection applications.  Develops online implementations of algorithms for image reconstruction and service tools.  Specifies hardware platforms for algorithms.  Invents original and creative approaches to design tasks.

 

Optimizes algorithms for hardware implementation.  Documents specifications, product designs test plans, and release notes.  Plans and conducts research, design, development and manufacturing engineering for all assignments.

 

Estimates and plans engineering personnel needs and schedules work to meet technical specifications and completion dates.

 

Reviews progress of engineering projects and evaluates results.  Makes changes in methods, design or equipment where necessary.

 

Coordinates the efforts of physicists, engineers and technicians assigned to projects.  Maintains liaison with various divisions. 

Qualifications

Requirements include a Master’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Physics or related field and five years of advanced study, research or experience in the job offered or related field of system modeling and simulation, digital signal processing, image processing, X-ray generation and detection, or inverse problems.

 

Special Requirements: Requires advanced knowledge of physics and/or engineering principles and concepts, as well as the ability to implement and integrate designs and set and parse visions for staff.
