The Program Manager is responsible for ensuring successful completion of all aspects of a product’s success, from initial concept through market introduction. It involves facilitating communications between multi-functional team members, suppliers, customers and prospects, regulators and management to ensure timelines and budget goals are met, and the product can be manufactured per required quality guidelines.


  • Involved in identification of potential markets for assigned program, develops feasibility analysis based on initial sales and pricing strategies and evaluates and determines technical and market requirements.
  • Communicates with external stakeholders such as technical OEMs and end users; and internal stakeholders such as design engineers and senior management.
  • Manages the scope, schedule, and budget of the program.
  • Identifies and coordinates the efforts of various members of a cross-functional product development team to meet all program and engineering project deliverables.
  • Schedules and leads team meetings, and ad hoc meetings, as required, in coordinating project activities and managing project issues.
  • Manages project communications including meeting minutes, monthly updates, communications meetings, and project Phase Reviews.
  • Prepares functional specifications and establishes design standards, engineering schedules.
  • Works with the procurement department to evaluate “make vs. buy” decisions and to identify optimal suppliers.
  • Works with Regulatory Affairs to manage and plan submissions to regulatory agencies.
  • Leads the Program decision making process and brings closure to open issues.
  • Maintains current program review documentation and reports on progress to senior management.
  • Assists in project team member career and professional development.
  • Contributes to the creation and management of long-term business goals.


  • Must possess the technical knowledge and breadth of experience to troubleshoot engineering problems over a wide range of disciplines and to interact with senior technical management at existing and potential customers and suppliers.
  • Must understand a broad range of business skills including market analysis, sales and marketing, accounting, communications, and regulatory matters.
  • Strong leadership and analytical skills to assess situations and drive decision making.
  • Strong problem solving – ability to anticipate and recognize issues, consider options, impacts and trade-offs, and make decisions to drive results.
  • Strong communications skills, both written and oral.
  • Familiarity with project management software such as Microsoft Project.
  • Ability to function in a changing, high-impact position, with deadline and resource limitations.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage the development of multiple projects.
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate across disciplines and integrate all aspects of business as they impact development projects, including negotiation of scope, roles and responsibilities, specifications, timelines, and resources throughout the organization.





MS/BS in engineering, business, or science disciplines, or equivalent, and 7+ years of related industry experience is required. 5+ years of direct project management experience is preferred. Must have experience developing products using a structured product development process.
